About A Family Quest
Genealogy has been my passion since 1998. I regret that my interest
in my ancestors did not develop earlier in life. How I wish I would have had
the insight to obtain information from my grandparents and others of their
generation before their passing. Lost forever are their personal stories and
memories.
Aside from the interest I have in my own ancestry, I have a desire to help
others in their efforts to discover their past. I serve as Vice President of
the Woodford County Kentucky Historical Society.
Although I now reside in Kentucky, I was born in Shelby County, Illinois and the
majority of my relatives live in the Prairie State. My ancestors eventually
settled in Illinois after migrations carried them from the east coast states of
Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, the Carolinas and Georgia. Several of my lines
migrations took them to Knox County, Ohio and later down the National Road to
Fayette County, Illinois. Other ancestral lines resided for periods of time in
Alabama, Louisiana, Arkansas, Kentucky and Tennessee. A few of the family names
I`m researching are Petty, Black, Riley, Wallace, Shrimplin, Cummins, Taulbee,
Huffman, DeShazo, Craig, Hicks and Tucker.
